Hot off the press

I just received the composer copies of my piano duet arrangement of Once in Royal David’s City, published by Kjos. Woo hoo!

(Christmas music in June? Well, yes, we musicians have to be ahead of the curve when it comes to special occasion music. And publication dates must always be well ahead of that. I recorded my Christmas CD, The Rebirth of Light, in July. I’m very lucky that R•T•G put up with me that year!)

I have always loved this Christmas carol, with its warmth and its beautiful retelling of the Incarnation. Here’s a bit of my arrangement:

From the text by C. F. Alexander:

And our eyes at last shall see him,
Through his own redeeming love,
For that child so dear and gentle
Is our Lord in heaven above

Christmas came early for me this year: I have the music now. Everyone will be able to have the music soon!
