A challenge

I’m delighted to announce that

I’ll be performing at the Manzano Mountain Art Council Center on Sunday, November 19!

This is an art council-sponsored local composers series. Previous Sundays will feature composer/organist/choir director James Yeager and composer/jazz & Middle Eastern performer Michael Hays. Our town is truly blessed with talent! I’ll post more about their concerts as November nears.

The concerts are probably at 2 pm; I’ll figure that out before November, too!

Anyway, here’s the challenge: I have an hour to perform and I’ve been hinted to talk only a very little bit, so that a lot of music can be heard. I think you know how tricky this will be for me!

Here’s what I plan to do: I’m creating my playlist, and I’m writing program notes (which could easily turn into a book!), and I plan only to announce each set with one short paragraph.

Do you think I can do it? I’m not sure! I know I can write the “novella”! I’m hoping that as I write, the one most important thing to say about each set will become very obvious.

I love to tell stories, and once I get into story-telling-mode it’s very difficult for me to pull myself out of it.

Me, talking about my music at a performance. (Quite a long time ago.)

And, I love to play piano even more! So, November is when!
